Lower Gas Prices in Rocky Point Attract Summer Visitors

When traveling to Rocky Point, you can offset some of your costs by purchasing your gas while in Rocky Point. Gas prices are significantly cheaper than in the U.S. You can fill up in Rocky Point with unleaded fuel for $2.81 a gallon, $3.18 for premium, or if your vehicle uses diesel, you can fill up for $2.18 per gallon. Take advantage of this opportunity to save on your travel expenses. Remember, all of the stations in Mexico are owned by the government, so the price is the same at every station.

Passport Legislation Gets Needed Postponement

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation that withholds $100M from the Department of Homeland Security for the implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). The immediate impact on Rocky Point is that the deadline for mandatory passports has been pushed forward to June 1, 2008. The U.S. Senate has yet to vote on the bill, but the impact of the legislation has already forced the DHS to admit that it is not prepared to implement the new regulations. Once the Senate votes on the bill, (it is expected to pass) the deadline will be pushed another 12 months to June 1, 2009.

Rocky Point Reservations is a member of the Border Trade Alliance (thebta.org), an organization dedicated to the continued free trade between the United States, Mexico and Canada. Find out more on passport issues at this site.
